Why is the event date changed when forwarding a comment from the smg360 Mobile App? The comment forwarding process on the smg360 Mobile App is different from that on the reporting website.
What Causes the Time Change?
- The Event date on the app is reported in the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) zone. When forwarding a comment, it adjusts the DateTime to your local time zone (time zone of the device).
- UTC is the local time in Greenwich, England. Time in other locations will be the UTC hour plus or minus the local Time Zone. Daylight savings time adds 1 hour to the local standard (real) time. Twenty-four hour time does not use "am" or "pm," but counts hours from midnight (0 hours) to 11 pm (23 hours).
Internal Note – Time and Date Discrepancies
When analyzing the time and date of the Event Date, it is important to know the invite type and how the time and dates are derived for each invite type. The Event Date might not always be reported in the UTC, as it may vary by survey setup.
- There may be additional discrepancies in the time and date for email survey invites, as smg360 shows the exact time sent to us in the transaction file. If there's a discrepancy of minutes between the Event Date shown in smg360 and the Event Date of the POS receipt, suggest the client reach out to their internal team, who sends us transaction files, to help explain why they sent us a different time from that of the POS receipt.
- For POS survey responses, smg360 might only display the event time by the hour, without the exact minutes, as it depends on what information is passed to SMG through the survey invitation code entered by the customer. Some survey invitation codes only contain the hour the transaction occurred and not the exact minute.

Can the App Be Updated So It Doesn't Adjust the Time When Forwarding Comments?
- This is the current implementation of the mobile app. We cannot change this at this time, but this has been noted for the new app coming soon. There is currently no target date for the new app.
