Multi-Source Text Analytics Dashboard

Engaging and configurable visualizations make it easier to act on insights from unstructured data. This article will show you how to best use the dashboard to your advantage by walking through the key features on the dashboard. The key features are, the Word Cloud card, the Category Trend card, the Top Topics card, and advanced filtering.

Accessing the multi-source Text Analytics dashboard
  • Dashboards can be accessed by clicking on the dashboard link in the left navigation in smg360.

Dashboard Navigation
  • The Text Analytics dashboard has a collection of cards that provide insights from unstructured comment data.

  • Data can be combined from multiple sources to provide users with a holistic view of performance.

  • You can filter the unstructured data by source, date, hierarchy units, key attributes, products, categories, or sentiment to target the displayed information.

  • Cards are designed to navigate users to reports for further insight and action.

Word Cloud Card
  • View the top 40 mentioned words from your comments. The size of the word correlates with the number of mentions.
  • Selecting a word(s) on the card will apply them as filters to the data set.
  • What words are mentioned most when guests talk about X word?
  • Remove words from displaying on the card to ensure the information is relevant and adding value.
  • View removed words using the ellipsis in the bottom-left corner.
  • Commonly removed words include brand, store, items/products, etc.
  • Click "View Comment Report" for further comment analysis and insight.

Top Topics Card
  • Keep a pulse on your 10 most mentioned products or categories within unstructured data.
    • Example: category X moved from #10 to #8 this month. What is causing the increase?
  • View the sentiment breakdown and number of mentions for each entity.
  • Select a category or product to view related comments, topics, and words.

Category Trend Card
  • See how category mentions change on a week, month, or quarter interval.
  • Quickly identify dips or spikes in mentions for key categories.
  • Hover over points on the chart to see how sentiment for each category shifts.
  • Click "View All Categories" to view sentiment by category and see what products are mentioned most within each category.


Emerging Themes Card
  • View the top 5 categories or product movers based on the change in mentioned percentage from the last to the current period.
  • Keep an eye on topics with sentiment shifts.

  • Select a topic to view comments for further analysis of what guests are saying.
  • Click "View Report" to see the percentage change for all categories and products.

Advanced Filtering
  • Adjust which data sources are being used to populate the dashboard. Focus on a single source or combine them for a holistic performance view.
  • Change the dashboard date range or hierarchy to view performance at different time intervals or levels within the organization.
  • Refine the unstructured data by key attributes like visit type or overall satisfaction to filter results for targeted guest feedback.
  • Filter dashboards cards by customized product groups to see how hot topics and words shift when guests mention a specific product or groups of products.
